 Avid Traveller, Calum Glenny, has written a delightful review of Rogues in Paradise, The real story of Barbados. Its anecdotal stories of the people will certainly make you laugh out loud. Yet the book is also a serious examination of history and heritage that leaves nothing out. Chapter 9 starts with the story of how Billy the Irish man started Hastings Farmers Market market and witnessed it progress  past his hopes.  It is a very multi-cultural venue of eccentric personalities. In this story of Chapter 9, Luc, the French Baker, shares his story of coming to Barbados and setting up his bakery. He creates some of the best french bread you will find anywhere- My choice is his sourdough. Luc is not alone, there are about a dozen crafts people who enhance the experience with their own colourful story. It is a mini-United Nations with artisans who are Bajan, French, Britsih and others mingling with visitors from everywhere. The Hastings Farmers Market located beside the South Coast Boardwalk, a favourite place to stroll along the seashore, with its changing tides, wind-blown sand mounds, waves, surf, and weather.
