The Story of Barbados: Review by Calum Glenny

Barbados has an abundant and varied culture hidden to which remains hidden; its history was composed by colonialists who shackled its people. Rogues changes that viewpoint with a vivid picture of Barbados' characters told through first-person accounts, demonstrating a special character. Here is the current review that highlights the point.

Avid Traveller, Calum Glenny, has written a delightful review of Rogues in Paradise, The real story of Barbados. Its anecdotal stories of the people will certainly make you laugh out loud. Yet the book is also a serious examination of history and heritage that leaves nothing out. Rogues will make you laugh with characters such as 'Fred' and his hilarious courtroom experience trying to conserve the Race Horse Bathing at Pebbles Beach.

Below is a sample from one of the chapters in Rogues. Chapter 3, Acerola (ACE): A remarkable Rogue who took a few incorrect steps, and got clean and clear. He is employed and on the right path. A fantastic example of a charming Rogue who took control of his life. It's one of the reasons that prompted the book. Barbados has many examples of virtue like this. There are lots of lessons from Rogues in Paradise.
