PTFE (TFE) and PVDF are both experiencing long lead times.
PTFE - Polytetrafluoroethylene product PTFE (TFE) and Kynar-PVDF manufacturing requires a mineral called Fluorspar that's mined in Mongolia and China. The world interest in this mineral has risen significantly, as well as supply has tightened. PTFE materials have high temperature resistance, excellent chemical resistance and very low co-efficient of friction (slick) and is utilized in tons of applications from non-stick fry griddles to ptfe tape for use at home. This particular mineral is the crucial raw materials in the production of fluoropolymers, fluorolubricants and several refrigerants. This increase in demand combined with shortage of raw materials is responsible for a dramatic price increase (almost double during the last year), shortages, and we expect these two factors to keep at it in the near future.
