Rex Wotton ran the West Coast Watersports shop at Coral Reef hotel, just up the beach from Settlers Beach. The center took hotel guest diving and on daytime and sunset cruises along the coast. He was a master seaman trained by the Royal Merchant Navy in ship navigation, and marine work.

Rex Wotton was among the most enchanting Rogues you would ever meet. He had an amazing sense of fun and used it to win over every situation. He was independent at an early age and often disappeared for days at a time, camping by Joes' river . He built campfires from coconut husk and twigs and cooked his catch with breadfruit, wild okras, plantain, and edible vines. He ate mangoes, and local berries like fat pork, and sea grapes, that grow along the beach.

Once, when somebody threw a cocktail at him, he immediately chucked the cold water of a wine bucket over their head. When ridiculed by an entertainer who made a saucy comment about him, Rex repaid the put-down by walking off with away the comics' iconic green top hat. Straight past security and the doorman, he marched with a reckless air and his beguiling beaming laugh.

This was his way, he did not allow much pass him and typically answered the rudeness with a double measure of the same, but it was masked in charm and style. He hardly ever displayed anger, but it was waiting when needed.
